On May 30th, 2010, I read an article in New York Magazine written by Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld that changed my life forever. It was titled the “The 101 Best Sandwiches in New York,” and true to its title, it listed what the authors believed to be the 101 best sandwiches in New York. I was blown away on so many levels.
The dedication that Patronite and Raisfeld must have committed in creating this list is unfathomable. They must have been writing this article for years. Not only is 101 sandwiches a lot to put away, but imagine all the ones that didn’t make the cut.
But in the end it was the pictures that sold me. Every sandwich looked tastier than the next and I found myself unable to close the window on my computer. I knew I was hooked from the beginning. And so The Quest I began.
I’m not in any rush to finish the list – especially because shockingly these aren’t the healthiest of sandwiches. But when I’m in the area of a sandwich or don’t have any dinner plans or it’s a day that ends in a “y”, I’m happy to cross one off the list.
Not only do I invite you to follow me on this Quest, but I invite you join.
